dogyard mag is ready for your work.
We reserve first publication rights to all work accepted! Your work may be used in quotes for promotional usage with proper credit. No prior published work is accepted; however, you are free to submit any of your work that is published in dogyard after a year from its original publication date (with proper identification it was first shown in dogyard!) We do not accept any use of artificial intelligence. We do not charge for any submissions, and cannot currently pay for accepted work.
We accept simultaneous submissions, but please let us know if it is accepted elsewhere! Submissions are open internationally to any writer writing primarily in English. Feel free to submit in more than one genre, but not in the same submission. We have different forms for different genres!
Each submission should have a cover letter and bio. Feel free to have fun with your bio, as long as it is under 75 words. We want to know about you, your dreams, your nightmares, where you've been published, and whatever in between! Feel free to attach any pictures of your pups. <3
For the obvious—do not submit work that is racist, xenophobic, transphobic, homophobic, or just overall mean-spirited. Follow each submission guideline or Maggie will chew it up and throw it out.
We hope to get to any submitted work as soon as possible, but please do not email asking for updates until four months has passed! Accepted work currently submitted will start being published in October, 2025.

Please submit all work as PDF, doc, or docx.
Please have all work in one font, preferably Times New Roman size 11. We love having fun with fonts but believe font choices outside of the norm should be purposeful.

We accept any creative nonfiction, whether that be memoir, lyric essay, research, hybrid work, and personal essay!
Please submit all work as PDF, doc, or docx.

Visual Arts & Graphic Narrative:
Give us your fine art, your found art, your photography, your short graphic comic, your boundary-pushing mashup of words and pictures—we want it all! We don't have a theme, but we won't accept your misogyny, racist tropes, violence, etc. Don't be a jerk. Show us what comes out of YOUR brain, not the AI overlords'. Send us art that invites us to see our world in new ways or suggests a story that happened just before the shutter snapped open. Visual writing prompts?? Yes, please!
Illustrations for graphic narrative must be self-made or include credit to the original artist that you are working in-tandem with and have written, express permission.
Please send up to three images (PDF, JPG, PNG) of your work per submission, and be sure to include your name, a short bio (75-100 words) and title of your piece(s) if you have them. If you can tell us what the work represents in a few sentences, we'd love to have those as well!
