Mar Prax was born and raised in Valdez, Alaska and is now pursuing an MFA in Fiction at the University of Arkansas. When not writing about ghosts, clowns, and, of course, dogs, she spends her time hiking, camping, biking, and generally trying to spend as much time outside as possible. As her constant goal is to make the most of every moment, she can also often be found color-coding her calendar.
Currently, she's dogyard mag's managing editor and teaches composition and introductory creative writing at the University of Arkansas where she also coordinates reading series. She was an assistant fiction and nonfiction editor for Moon City Review and read and copy-edited for the Arkansas International. She has experience as a writing consultant and in commercial radio and marketing.
While her work varies wildly in subject, she loves interrogating off-kilter characters, personal relationships, and community. She has a penchant for humorous narratives and can't help but churn out a new ghost story every so often. Her work is featured in LitSite Alaska and New Plains Review.
